The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full time board certified/board eligible gastroenterologist at the Assistant Professor rank. The selected candidate will join eight other full-time faculty in an academic pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition practice that includes patients with diverse and fascinating problems. Our program covers the full spectrum of care in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.
Additional responsibilities will include participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, clinical practice through MPhysicians, and participation in service activities on behalf of the department, the medical school, and your profession.
This position will include clinical services in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, along with teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
The position will require supervising, mentoring and teaching medical students, residents and fellows along with other curriculum development responsibilities.
The successful candidate will participate in research projects and other academic/scholarly activities either as a collaborator or independent researcher and participate in faculty development activities tailored to the candidate's career interests and goals.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE).
Faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents and faculty.
About the Division:
The Division plays a leading and integral role in hepatology and liver transplantation, hosting one of the longest standing liver transplant programs in the United States. The Division is home to a nationally-recognized division for ERCP, EUS, and management of complex pancreas/biliary disorders. Historically, the Division has made a number of seminal contributions in the fields of hepatology and nutrition, and generates important knowledge in our understanding of liver metabolism. More recently, the Division has contributed to the understanding of the role of pancreaticobiliary endoscopy in the management of a number of clinical conditions, including malignant hilar biliary obstruction, complications of ERCP, endoscopic therapy of pancreatic diseases, and of sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. We have ongoing clinical research projects in cystic fibrosis liver disease, hepatitis B, chronic pancreatitis and inflammatory bowel disease. We are one of the largest centers in the country for pediatric total pancreatectomy, islet auto transplantation. The Division continues to maintain highest ambitions for excellence in all three of its major missions: patient services, teaching, and research.

Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine residency
Three years' fellowship in gastroenterology
Board eligible/certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology
Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota
Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
