Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System is looking for a pathologist to participate in the day-to-day care of hospital patients by providing and interpreting laboratory information to help solve diagnostic problems and to monitor the effects of treatment. This announcement reflects a closing date of September 30, 2021. We will accept application packets on an on-going basis; however, qualified applicants will be referred to the selecting official at two-week intervals. The first referral will be two weeks from the opening date of the announcement. If the vacancy is filled prior to the current closing date, the announcement will be closed. Pay: Competitive salary, may be eligible for annual performance bonus, typically regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Participate in applicable cross-organizational performance-improvement activities and service level peer review; developing and communicating objectives; and coordinating efforts to integrate patient care and support services. Provide educational direction for the medical and laboratory staff, and participate in educational programs of the institution as appropriate. Provide the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with customer constructively and appropriately.
