This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Medical Director- Primary Care Rome CBOC- The Medical Director of the Primary Care Program at the Rome CBOC provides administrative, programmatic, and clinical leadership for primary care services at the Rome location to ensure achievement of VHA clinical and education goals. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Primary Care at the Syracuse VA Medical Center under the Ambulatory Care Line. This position is a dual clinical and administrative role. The incumbent is a board-certified physician with advanced clinical experience as well as demonstrated administrative and leadership skills who meets the requirements for a faculty appointment at the Syracuse VAMC academic affiliate, Upstate Medical University. The incumbent must have: Demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to care delivery. Documented ability to coordinate a broad continuum of programs. Management experience with strong administrative and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated skills in providing clinical interface with other disciplines represented at the Rome CBOC and other key stakeholders. The responsibilities include direct patient care work, oversight, and administration of all aspects of Rome Primary Care, and liaison with the Syracuse VAMC regarding training for medical residents and other trainees. The Medical Director collaborates closely with the Rome CBOC Nurse Manager and serves as the first line direct on-site supervisor for all Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) primary care physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. The following description covers the most significant duties performed but does not exclude other responsibilities which may be assigned. The physician is responsible for delivery of comprehensive primary care to a panel of Veterans. This primary area of responsibility will involve performance of, and documentation of health care delivery for Veterans according to VHA and Syracuse VAMC standards. The physician will be fully qualified and certified to function in both a clinical and administrative role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the Syracuse VAMC.
