The facility provides care to approximately 82,000 veterans in the midlands and upstate SC. CBOCs are located in Anderson, Greenville, Spartanburg, Florence, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Rock Hill, and provide primary care, mental health, and telemedicine services. Dorn VAMC is affiliated with the University of South Carolina (USC) School of Medicine and provides teaching services for students and residents. The Gastroenterology (GI) Section at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center is recruiting an outstanding gastroenterologist to lead an excellent Gastroenterology Section. The Chief of GI will assume the leadership of full and part-time physicians, mid-lever providers, and technical support. The WJB Dorn VA Medical Center is an academic facility, and this position involves substantial formal and informal resident and medical student education in both the inpatient and outpatient arenas. In addition, newly renovated research space is available on the Dorn campus. Faculty rank at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine is commensurate with qualifications. The position includes clinical, administrative, and research duties. The approximate time assigned in each of area as of the date of this statement is listed below. This may change over time depending on the needs of the Service and the Medical Center. The time allotment is consistent with information contained in the physician mapping tool that is used to follow physician duties and productivity. Clinical: 70% Administrative: 10% Research: 20 % Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (Subject to change based on needs of the agency.) May require work outside of core schedule as this is a 24/7 hospital. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Not authorized. EDRP: This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility criteria in accordance with VHA policy 1021 and apply for EDRP within four (4) months of appointment. Final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
