The VA Western New York Healthcare System is currently looking for psychiatrists to join our team in treating our nations veterans at our Buffalo, NY facility. VA Western New York Health Care System (VAWNYHCS), located in Buffalo, New York, is recruiting for a Physician to work in Behavioral Health Outpatient clinics., inpatient and/or residential treatment. VAWNYHCS is a level 1B, academic, tertiary health care system, affiliated with the University at Buffalo. VAWNYHCS provides a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology, plus education and research. General Psychiatry: Privileges includes treatment of psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. The incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to: - Treatment of psychiatric disorders, to cover the routine practice of psychiatry, conducting a complete psychiatric evaluation (including for substance abuse), ordering any appropriate diagnostic evaluation, ordering psychopharmacological medications, providing consultation and liaison services, and performing individual psychotherapy. - Medical Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Treatment, to include the medical evaluation and treatment in an alcoholism rehabilitation program of conditions commonly associated with alcoholism (e.g. liver disease and central nervous system dysfunction), utilizing consultants when appropriate. This privilege includes ordering psychopharmacological medications, providing consultation and individual and group counseling. - Other necessary duties as assigned by the Chief of Psychiatry Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with a possibility of various on call duties, which may include weekdays, weekends and holidays.
