The Dermatology Physician (MD/DO) is administratively responsible to the Chief of Medicine. Clinical oversight is provided by the collaborating physician, Section Chief, Dermatology. The physician, as a member of the department, communicates with other healthcare providers to manage consults and additional services as required. General duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical practice, supervising and teaching fellows, residents and medical students in the specialty of Dermatology. Providing consultation to non-rheumatology services for hospitalized patients with dermatology concerns. Providing outpatient dermatology consultations and clinic appointments for Veterans with a variety of dermatology concerns. Performing standard dermatology procedures (Moh's) Ensuring that treatment is safe, timely, efficient, efficacious, evidence-based, and patient-centered. Ensuring that patients receive appropriate follow-up for patients with dermatology concerns. The physician is expected to share attending call responsibilities with other Dermatology/Internal Medicine specialists in covering some nights, weekend and holiday calls as needed. The physician will round with the team of fellow(s), resident(s), and medical student(s) as regards to inpatient settings.
