This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. MVAHCS provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care and serves as a tertiary referral center for VISN 23. Minneapolis/St. Paul is a major metropolitan area with a world-class cultural environment, excellent educational institutions and abundant recreational opportunities. The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS), affiliated with the University of Minnesota, is seeking a BC/BE rheumatologist to join a group of 1 full-time and four part-time rheumatologists and two Nurse Practitioners. Duties include attending outpatient clinics, supervising two nurse practitioners, inpatient consultation, and teaching University of Minnesota rheumatology fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students. Rheumatology staff also supervise inpatient general internal medicine house staff teams for 4-5 weeks of the year. Educational, clinical and basic science research opportunities are available. Personal evaluations that demonstrate the applicant's experience, skill and dedication to supervising, teaching and training fellows, internal medicine residents and medical students is a requirement. A strong commitment to developing a research focus with the goal of obtaining funding to support the research activities is an important prerequisite. Specific research training, successful collaborations and publication track record is necessary for selection to this position. In particular, particular interest in scleroderma research and clinical care is important as the applicant may anticipate spending 1 day per week at the University of Minnesota Scleroderma Clinic.
