The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) is seeking an intermittent neurosurgeon to join our neurosurgery program. SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Medical students, residents, and fellows rotate at our facility. Elective neurosurgery is offered for patients from Arizona and New Mexico. Therefore, the selected candidate must also be eligible for an appointment with the University of Arizona. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care to adult patients and will coordinate referrals to appropriate community providers and/or facilities. Complex spine and neurovascular expertise preferred. The physician will ensure the provision of care to all neurosurgical patients directly or by consultation. The incumbent participates fully in: quality improvement, quality assurance, and utilization review activities and other medical staff activities as assigned within the Medical Center. The physician will fully comply with appropriate staff education and training. The successful candidate must possess sufficient clinical knowledge and experience to provide competent clinical care and must also have good interpersonal skills to deal harmoniously with staff, patients and family members. The incumbent must be proficient in the use of computerized systems related to patient care.
