This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Women's Health Medical Director will provide clinical expertise in the area of women's health care, promoting best practices and functioning as the clinical subject matter expert for women's health issues in the VA Boston Healthcare System. Women's Health clinics are located at our Jamaica Plain and Brockton campuses. Key responsibilities include: - Acting as the clinical leader for comprehensive women's health care at VA Boston HCS. - Clinic leader as part of an interdisciplinary leadership team for two Comprehensive Women's Health centers, located in Jamaica Plain and Brockton, Massachusetts. - Developing local educational initiatives for women's health providers and trainees and actively supporting participation in on-going nationally developed educational programs. - Collaborating with facility leadership, gynecology, specialty care, radiology, mental health, laboratory, emergency department, ensuring appropriate comprehensive clinical services are available. - Implementing clinical quality improvement. Responsible for excellent achievement on all measures that apply to women's health, both gender-specific and gender-neutral measures and responsibility for working to eliminate gender disparities in performance. The VA Boston Healthcare System's Primary and Ambulatory Care Service is affiliated with a large Department of Medicine with academic affiliations with Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. Academic accomplishments should be commensurate with academic appointment at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level at Harvard Medical School or Boston University School of Medicine. Teaching students is a component of this position. This full-time position includes approximately 50% clinical time. VA Women's Health Physicians manage a complex panel of patients, providing comprehensive medical care, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention and chronic disease management. Physicians work in teams where each patient has longitudinal relationships with their physician and care team including integrated behavioral health, clinical pharmacists, dieticians, and social workers. Panel sizes are approximately 1200 patients per full-time physician and appointment lengths are 60 minutes for new patients and 30 minutes for all other appointments. Physicians are trained in patient-centered communication skills. Complementary and integrative therapies are available. This position will work at the Jamaica Plain and Brockton Campuses. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received. - Selectee will be required to complete the credentialing process. - Applicant's education, length of practice, will be considered by a Market Pay Review process in determining the salary of the applicant selected. - Permanent appointment in this position is subject to review by the Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) that will review the selected candidate's education and experience. - Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).
