Geisinger is seeking candidates for unique, non-traditional fellowship opportunities. These Leadership and Clinical Hospital Medicine Fellowship are a one year program that offers physician the training and experience in the skills needed to succeed as a department, medical staff or institutional leader for inpatient medicine. Throughout the year the fellow will split time working as a clinical hospitalist (13 weeks) at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, taking online courses through the American Association for Physician Leaders (physicianleaders.org), attending higher level administrative meetings, and completing several quality improvement projects. This program is designed to give future physician leaders exposure to the non-clinical side of inpatient management. The fellow will gain experience as a hospitalist in our fully-integrated nationally recognized healthcare system. The program includes courses offered by the American Association for Physician Leaders and these credits can be used towards achieving your MBA, MMM, or MS-HQSM. This structured practical curriculum gives a strong foundation in the fundamentals of healthcare leadership. The fellow will work directly with administrative and clinical physician mentors to develop the broad skill set necessary to successfully lead within a hospital system. Job Requirements: The ideal candidate will have completed an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and have an expressed interest in leadership. Physicians who have completed a chief resident year are encouraged to apply, as are those who are experienced medicine attendings seeking to understand and enhance their leadership skills for career development.
