Emergency Room Medical Director

ob Purpose & Position Overview:

Provides supervision of assigned Emergency Room Medical Staff and provide full emergency and acute health care services to patients who present to the Twelve Clans Unity Hospital Emergency Room for care.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates the WCHS core mission, vision and values
• As the supervising staff physician, incumbent performs and provides the diagnosis, care and treatment of primarily emergency care patients. Provides clinical and administrative supervision of the all the medical staff, including the contractor medical staff. Makes appropriate medical referrals to the private sector hospitals and specialist for Emergency Room patients.
• Ensures that the Emergency Room is staffed at all times adequately to meet the medical care needs of the patients. Includes preparing physician and advanced practice provider schedules a minimum of 30 days in advance. Ensures all providers have received proper orientation. Ensures that all medical staff are properly credentialed prior to reporting for duty at the Emergency Room.
• Ensures that all medical staff are properly trained and that all licenses and necessary certifications are current at all times. Ensures that the Emergency Room is in compliance with all applicable CMS Conditions of Participation as they relate to the Emergency Room environment.
• Works closely with the Clinical Director to ensure quality and safe care is produced out of the ER.
• Proficient in the electronic medical record. Ensures that all documentation is complete and acceptable for his/her staff.
• Works closely with private sector hospitals, physicians and referral centers to ensure a comprehensive medical referral process is in place. Participates in all medical staff and quality management functions including professional peer review.
• Ensures that the Emergency Room has the necessary medical equipment in place to provide appropriate medical care.
• Makes decisions in matters of significance
