The Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute in St Petersburg, Florida, is recruiting an experienced, fellowship trained pediatric interventional cardiologist to lead our interventional program and cardiac catherization lab. Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital has announced that following an extensive national search, Dr. James Quintessenza has been hired as the new chief of pediatric cardiac surgery. Dr. Quintessenza is considered one of the nation’s leading cardiothoracic surgeons and returns to JHACH where he practiced for over 25 years. He will be instrumental in rebuilding the pediatric cardiac surgery program and the restarting of the Johns Hopkins All Children's Heart Institute as a whole. The Heart Institute provides comprehensive pediatric and congenital cardiac care as well as pediatric heart transplantation. We have been providing pediatric cardiology services for children with congenital heart disease since 1977. We have two cardiac operating rooms, PDA Stent Center, two fully functional cardiac catheterization labs with all commercially available valve technology, 3D rotation angiography and the ability to perform hybrid procedures. Candidate requirements include significant experience leading a pediatric interventional cardiology program and catherization lab, preferably in an academic setting.
Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a 259-bed teaching hospital, ranked as a U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospital in multiple pediatric specialties (2019-2020). The Heart Institute is comprised of pediatric cardiologists (including fetal cardiologists), a pediatric cardiovascular surgeon, pediatric cardiac intensivists and a group of highly-productive advanced nurse practitioners and physician assistants. There is close cooperation with cardiac anesthesiologists, maternal-fetal medicine physicians and OBGYNs.
