On behalf of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) and the OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois (CHOI), MillicanSolutions, LLC is pleased to announce a national search for an outstanding academic leader as the Division Head, Pediatric Cardiology and Co-Director of the Congenital Heart Center located in Peoria, IL. Reporting to the Chair of Pediatrics, the Division Chief will have the goal of advancing the field of Pediatric Cardiology through patient care, practice innovation, research and education. The new Division Head will lead a clinical division in the Department of Pediatrics and will play a key role in the growth of academic programs across all missions of UICOMP and CHOI. The new Division Head must be an excellent clinician who possesses strong leadership and administrative skills and ability to work collaboratively with others at both the University and the Hospital. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology has 11 physicians and three APNs located in Peoria and two physicians in Rockford, IL. They also provide regional services across Central Illinois. OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois (CHOI) is a 144-bed, full-service children’s hospital, with more than 115 pediatric specialists in 40+ subspecialties. CHOI opened a new state-of-the-art inpatient bed tower in 2010. It is the first state-designated Pediatric Critical Care Center complete with neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, general pediatrics, a pediatric pharmacy and dedicated pediatric surgery facilities. It is home to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate for children with cancer and blood diseases and has earned state designation as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics. Every inpatient room is private, with sleeping accommodations for parents. Children’s Hospital is the major pediatric teaching affiliate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP), ensuring 24-hour, in-house physician coverage with pediatric specialists for immediate consultations. It is the Regional Perinatal Center, with central Illinois’ only Level III+ neonatal intensive care unit, and is now home to the first state-designated Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in downstate Illinois. The Level 1 distinction is the highest ranking of its kind that a hospital can attain, recognizing centers that provide optimal care for the trauma patient. The successful candidate will be an MD or MD/PhD with prior leadership experience in a nationally recognized pediatric cardiology program and an established academic career in research, education, or quality and process improvement. The Division Head must have experience mentoring junior faculty and an excellent understanding of finances and budgets. The Division Head must be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology and be eligible for a faculty appointment at UICOMP at the rank of Associate or full Professor. |
