We've been taking care of Northern California for over a hundred years, starting with the great 1906 San Francisco earthquake. As one of the region's largest not-for-profit, community-based home care providers, we're fully equipped to deliver high-quality care that's right for each patient. Sutter Care at Home currently services 27 counties in Northern California. We are currently seeking a Medical Directors for the greater Sacramento Areas and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Medical Director has overall responsibility for the medical direction of the care and treatment of patients and their families rendered by the hospice care team, and provides consultation and collaboration with the patient’s attending physician. The medical director provides medical management of patients and physician direction, as well as guidance to the hospice program, its staff, and volunteers, to ensure the maintenance of quality standards of care for patients and families. The medical director will also serve as a resource to educate practicing physicians and others engaged in healthcare services about the hospice program.

Sutter Care at Home Hospice care responds to the unique physical, mental, social and emotional needs of terminally ill patients and their families, and focuses on care, not cure. Hospice care is palliative, allowing patients to spend their remaining days in comfort and dignity in the familiar surroundings of their home. The patient's physical and emotional comfort is the most important goal of the hospice team

Ideal candidates will have five years of experience in a palliative care setting and be board certified in either palliative care or internal medicine with prior palliative care experience. Candidates who are certified as a hospice medical director will take priority. Collaborative candidates who are driven by quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and value are desired.
